  1. Meaning of Leadership Skill and the Concept of Team Building
  2. The need of Leadership Skill in our life
  3. How to implement it.

The whole essence of leadership skill  revolves around the notion of Team Building, thus we need to understand the concept of Team, first.

What is a team?

—A team is a group of individuals working together to achieve a goal. A group does not necessarily constitute a team. Teams normally have members with complementary skills and generate synergy through a coordinated effort which allows each member to maximize their strengths and minimize their weaknesses.


Difference between a team and a group

—A group is a collection of individuals who coordinate their individual efforts. On the other hand, at team is a group of people who share a

common team purpose and a number of challenging goals. Members of the team are mutually committed to the goals and to each other.

Purpose of the team

—The purpose of creating teams is to provide a framework that will increase the ability of employees to participate in planning, problem-solving and decision making to better serve customers.

Types of Team —There are two types of team:

Compelled Team ( Where team members are not of our choice)

Choice Team (Where team members are of our choice)

Stages of Team —The five stages:

—Stage 1: Forming. —Stage 2: Storming. —Stage 3: Norming. —Stage 4: Performing. —Stage 5: Adjourning.

Stages of Team

  1. Team Forming: A team of members is formed by the higher authorities for pursuing a common goal or task. Expert from various areas are to come together giving up their difference of opinions and a team is formed.

  1. Team Storming: To pursue the assigned task, team members start discussing the ways to pursue it. There are lot of differences of opinions and arguments during this stage.


Stages of Team

  1. Team Norming: During this stage all the team members realize that they should give up their differences and start processing towards the task accomplishment. They come to common conclusion and select the shortest and the smartest way to achieve the goal in a harmonious way.

Stages of Team

  1. Team Performing: This is the most important stage where the members are actually performing, using their expertise, pooling their ideas and giving their individual best in their team.

  1. Team Adjourning: In this stage, team members disperse as the team is dissolved since the task assigned is accomplished.

Stages of Team

—Generally, at workplaces teams once formed continue for the upcoming assignments as the team once formed will not lose their precious time again in the first three stages. And they will directly start performing.
